DEPARTMENT OF VOCAL STUDIES AND STAGE DIRECTING


The department has always occupied a place of special significance in the Conservatory, since lovers of music in this country tend to view opera as the top of arts. The theatre-going public from both Russian capitals take a great interest in all aspects of vocal studies at the Conservatory. Who would likely become a leading singer at the Mariinsky or the Bolshoi theatre – the Conservatory has always lived up to their expectations. Today the department offers studies in singing and stage directing.

Preparatory Сourse

Pre-requisite requirements:
 

  • Ballet performance skills at a professional level
  • Diploma of complete secondary education (high –school diploma) or diploma from an accredited specialized music institution
  • Age: minimum age 18 years



Entrance examinations requirements:

Dance
Applicants are required to perform:

  • a classical training lesson
  • one fragment of a classical ballet



Russian language 
No special requirements.

Preparatory Course

Pre-requisite requirements:
 

  • Ballet performance skills at a professional level
  • Diploma of complete secondary education (high –school diploma) or diploma from an accredited specialized institution (secondary education level)
  • Age: minimum age 18 years



Entrance examinations requirements:

Applicants are required to perform:

Preparatory course

Pre-requisite requirements:
 

  • General musical training
  • Diploma of complete secondary education (high –school diploma) or diploma from an accredited specialized music institution
  • Age: minimum age 18 years



Entrance examinations requirements:

Voice
Applicants are required to perform:

  • two arias, one by a Russian composer
  • one romance or folk-song

Russian language
No special requirements.

Special Training Non-degree Course

Pre-requisite requirements:

  • Musical training
  • Diploma from an accredited specialized music institution/ Academic certificate from an accredited specialized music institution



Entrance examinations requirements:

Voice
Performing a programme to applicant’s choice.

Russian language
No special Russian language requirements. Knowledge of at least elementary Russian is recommended.
