Developing and coordinating the diverse international activities of the conservatory, the International Relations Department, under the leadership of Regina Glazunova, is establishing contacts with leading educational institutions, cultural and academic centers, music and education governing bodies around the world. The department is organizing exchange visits and negotiation processes, prepares cooperation agreements, provides technical and documentary support for the implementation of international projects.

Up tp date, the Conservatory has about 70 existing agreements with leading music universities in the world. The International Relations Department actively promotes cultural exchange, works with international correspondence, prepares and conducts student auditions, master classes in Russia and abroad with the participation of leading professors. It works with the consulates general and embassies of Russia abroad, as well as with the consulates general in St. Petersburg. Actively participates in exchange programs, such as Erasmus +, and in the framework of signed agreements with foreign universities.

The International Relations Department provides information support for planned events (collecting materials, preparing biographical articles and commentaries on programs, press releases, draft booklets, concert programs, posters, etc.), ensuring the creative implementation of cooperation agreements  with the foreign partners through the organization of competitions, festivals concerts and the development of long-term scientific and creative projects, the preparation and conduct of summer master classes at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. The department participates in major projects and events of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.

Among significant projects:

- The annual organization of student auditions in the international youth orchestras: Schleswig-Holstein, the G. Mahler Orchestra, the Baltic Youth Orchestra, the Netherlands Orchestra Academy, and others. (2004-)

- The annual organization and realization of master classes by outstanding musicians at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (2004 -)

- Annualy, the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar provides a grant of the Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna for one student of the Conservatory to study at the University in Weimar (2006-)

- Every two years, the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig provides a grant for two piano students to study at the Summer Piano Academy (2006 -)

- Organization of the Conservatory Student Symphony Orchestra participation in the Beethoven Festival in Bonn (2008)

- Organization of the II International Rimsky-Korsakov Wind and Percussion  Competition (2008)

- Organization of the Shostakovich composition competition (2008)

- Organization of the joint opera project with the University of Salzburg-Mozarteum in Germany and Austria (2008)

- Organization of the Australian project “Days of Melbourne in St. Petersburg” with the participation of the Government of St. Petersburg (2009)

- Organization of the staging of the Gluck’s opera “Orpheus” with the participation of the Paris Conservatory (2009)

- Organization of the Association of Baltic Academy of Music (AVAM) International Conference (2010)

- Participation in the forum "St. Petersburg-Barcelona – twin cities 2010"

- Participation in the opening of the Year of Russia in Italy, together with the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome (2011)

-Organization of an  International conference and concert as part of the VI International Cultural Forum (2017)

- Organization of participation of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in the cross year Italy-Russia and the cross year of music Austria-Russia (2018)

- Within the framework of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, the performance of Rossini's Solemn Mass was held in conjunction with the Conservatory J. Rossini, Pesaro, Italy. The project was also carried out under the auspices of UNESCO (2018)
