Abstract

The article represents a review of the collection of articles by Valery V. Smirnov, published in 2020 by the St. Petersburg Conservatory, which is dedicated to the life and work of Igor Stravinsky. It gives a general description of the publication, emphasizing the generalizing nature of the works by the author, who has been analyzing Stravinsky's music for more than half a century, starting from the 60s of the last century. 12 publications of the collection demonstrate a single system that combines materials of historical and theoreticalanalytical nature. Adhering to the most objective, balanced position towards the work of the master, the author considers different periods of his activity as a holistic embodiment of the artistic ultimate goals that the composer always set. The book contains a number of unique materials identified and published by Valery Smirnov in the process of his research work in domestic and foreign libraries and archives, including those that have not been published in Russian until now.
